Boulder Landscaping

Do you want your yard to look stylish, but also natural and rustic at the same time? If so, then boulder landscaping is for you!

As you might imagine, boulder landscaping, which is growing more and more popular in the Akron, Ohio area, is simply landscaping that utilizes big, real boulders. These boulders can be used to draw attention to an area, to make a statement, or just to look nice. Whatever your intentions or ideas, you’ll find that incorporating boulders into your landscape is a lot easier if you can just follow a few simple tips.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO GO BIG

First things first, when you’re choosing a boulder, don’t be afraid to choose one that’s “large and in charge.” A lot of people worry that a big boulder will attract too much attention or just not look that good, but that’s rarely the case. In fact, people often find that, once it’s placed, a boulder often seems smaller than they imagined.  So, keep things in perspective, and don’t be afraid to opt for a big boulder. You can always trade it in for a smaller one if you want to, but that’s not likely to happen.

GET CREATIVE

If you’re using several boulders in your landscape design, don’t make things too uniform. For example, don’t choose boulders that are all the same size or all the same shape. Aim for pieces that are different from one another. And, similarly, don’t arrange them all in the same way. Let some lie flat while others stand up. The more creative you are, the more natural your boulders are likely to look. And, if you can’t seem to achieve the look you want on your own, consider letting a professional landscaper do the job.

Ultimately, you can use boulders however you want. After all, it’s your yard! But, if you follow these tips, there’s a good chance you’ll be very happy with how your boulder landscaping turns out.
